The Department of Information Technology
About the Department
The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 2008 with the objective of imparting knowledge in cutting-edge technologies in Information Technology. Department was started with an intake of 60 students in 2008; the sanctioned intake was increased to 120 seats in the year 2012. The Department was accredited by NBA, New Delhi. The Department has a team of dynamic, young and dedicated staff, with specialization in wide array of areas. The Department has well-equipped labs, which include 124 computer systems with the latest configurations and 1.2 Gbps Internet access that are vital to train the students in both software and hardware. The Department always strives to reach the latest technology and advancement in this field to the young learners as well as aspirants by inviting the corporate legends and experienced academicians to enlighten the Information Technology community of our institution.

															Dr. P. Sivakumar, M.E., Ph.D.
The department is well-equipped with 124 computer systems featuring the latest configurations with 1.2 Gbps internet connectivity and maintains a dedicated department library stocked with the latest titles, editions, journals, and magazines, all supported by internet connectivity. To enhance students’ technical competence and industry readiness, the department regularly conducts seminars, workshops, and guest lectures.
In collaboration with industry, the department has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Ethnotech Academy & NSDC, KwantumG Research Labs Pvt. Ltd., e-Sales Software Solutions, Datanerdz.AI, Career Craft Academy, VEI Technologies and Innovate Engineering Products. These partnerships support industrial training, internship faculty development programs, and collaborative R&D initiatives.
Students of the department have successfully executed a variety of innovative projects in domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning, Deep learning, blockchain Technology and Cloud Computing. The department’s in-house software team has developed several applications including campus management systems, attendance helplines, and online test platforms. Many of our graduates have secured placements in top-tier IT companies including TCS, Virtusa, ZOHO, Kaar Technologies, CTS, Infosys and Wipro.

- Harshanaa U. S., Ramsugumar, Amudha, Sivanesan, Priyadharshini M., and Aurobindh Sai won the Smart India Hackathon 2020 organized by the Government of India and received a cash award of ₹1,00,000. The event was held from 1st to 3rd August 2020.
 - M. Rajnivas won the Consolation Prize (₹2,000) in the State Level Quiz Competition conducted by the Pondicherry AIDS Control Society, Puducherry, on 6th November 2020.
 - G. Madavan secured a Gold Medal in the 2nd R. Jayn Boxing Championship 2021 in the 75 kg senior weight category, organized by Jayam Boxing Club, Puducherry, on 3rd January 2021.
 - G. Madavan also emerged as the Winner of the State Boxing Championship held on 28th March 2021, organized by National Boxing Club, Kalapet.

Faculty Achievements:
- P.Sivakumar , Prof/IT received active SPOC Appreciation certificate from SWAYAM – NPTEL, IIT-Madras consistently for 7 years ( from 2017 to 2025) and also completed 11 NPTEL certificate Courses with one Gold Medal. Also received the NPTEL Star Award
